Idea from Europe Kids Want

Every child has a right to education and health, but today this is not guaranteed to all children living in Europe. Children from disadvantaged families are much more likely to fall behind, and particularly migrant children. Other vulnerable groups also suffer from similar disparities, such as children with disabilities or Roma children just to name some.

As signatories of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), it is for the Member States to guarantee the access to these rights. The EU could support this call and encourage countries to invest in preventing illness and inequalities that affect children. Additional services can help children who live in difficult situations, such as migrant children, to have equal opportunities with national children (as for instance language classes, mental health support, etc.). Investment in extending and improving social services for children in vulnerable situations means improving services for all children.

How do we make sure that health and education services reach all children regardless who they are, where they live or where they come from?

1. Education is a key factor for the development and progress of a country. Free access on equal opportunities without discrimination based on sex, ethnicity, religion or status would benefit children but also the entire society, which would have a population with more training that would facilitate entry into the labor market, entrepreneurship and creativity with the that improve the quality of life with less unemployment, less marginalization, more income level, etc. Just as universal access to health would achieve a healthier society, improving the Welfare State in turn. 2. This idea would avoid the exclusion of any group and adapt / integrate them, fulfilling some values of coexistence. 3. My country´s policies should be: free access to free education by investing and financing centers to provide materials to students, such as the work of several tutors or social workers to help the special integration of people with any problem (such as disabilities). A universal and free Health, with a single health card that is distributed to all its population, ensuring primary and basic care to those who lack it and providing it. The homogenization of the educational and health program in the State is necessary to guarantee equal opportunities that end inequalities between territories.

This idea should be a reality! All children should have access to education and health under equal conditions and without discrimination by reason of sex, age, race, religion, country of origin, economic level, etc. This would mainly benefit children since they would grow up in a healthy environment and be trained for their future, as well as educating themselves in values, attitudes and principles, thereby benefiting families and society as a whole. It must be guaranteed from 0 years and as a permanent education, as well as access to health so that they grow informed and in the best way possible, gaining quality of life. Families would have fewer problems, both economic and coexistence, and even improve birth rates. As an introductory idea, free access and financial assistance to families would be a good measure. Also the promotion of scholarships for education and that can benefit all children regardless of their status. We will be contributing to create a better society!
